Q700 Wireless at the BET Awards
June 19, 2003 marked the first BET Television black entertainment awards, held at the Paris Theatre in Las Vegas. The highly anticipated show, featuring myriad stars and numerous performances throughout the event, was a hit with viewers. The technical aspects of the show were critical to the successful outcome.

As part of the technical complement, the new Vega Q700 wireless intercom system was front and center, used by the stage managers to coordinate the on-air action. Six BP700 full-duplex wireless beltpacks were routed through the MS700 master station, which was in turn connected to two channels of wired intercom.

The Q700 offers unprecedented communications flexibility, permitting each beltpack's functions and routing capabilities to be separately programmed. Discussing programming the intercom, freelance sound engineer Tom Angelotti, who supervised the communications for the show, commented that "the audio quality was very clear and understandable.
Overall communications services for the show were provided by Audio Services Group (ASG) of Burbank, CA - a division of Bexel. Vega Wireless is a division of Clear-Com.
"The Q700 was both powerful and easy to operate - I put it through its paces and have the highest regard for it."
