Clear-Com® Launches Eclipse 32

News Release: April 19, 2004

The powerful new Eclipse 32 digital matrix in 1RU will make its debut at NAB 2004, and will be shippable later in the year. In addition, Clear-Com demonstrates its new Eclipse 208 digital matrix intercom at the show. Eclipse builds on the legacy of over a dozen years of innovation and success with digital matrix communications, and reaches for an even higher level of connectivity.

The Eclipse 208 features a powerful new processing platform that will accommodate the dense communications requirements of large-scale modern productions. Each of the matrix cards supports 16 ports (full-duplex audio channels with data) of communication, allowing up to 208 ports in the 6-RU card frame. Frames can be "intelligently linked" via Ethernet, thereby expanding the system for a larger production environment or over distance for secure and discreet communication. The frames also feature dual redundant processors and power supplies, providing state-of-the-art dependability.

The system software is intuitive, featuring graphical views of the frames, stations, and interfaces and the ability to focus on labels and functions for each of the individual station buttons. This is combined with a series of drop-down menus to access different features of the system such as label assignments, interfacing, DTMF access, key functions, and so on. Programming is done from a PC through a serial connection or via Ethernet, allowing systems to be programmed and maintained remotely.

A single studio is often used for many different productions. With the software's "drag and drop" ease, the user can quickly assign keys, save multiple configurations, and swiftly pull them up when needed.

Eclipse takes full advantage of the modularity of the i-stations, and is also compatible with matrix interfaces and a number of the existing matrix stations. Audio features include frequency response of 30 Hz to 22 kHz, +/-3 dB with 24-bit resolution, VOX detection controlled from the software, and individual crosspoint level control in 0.35-dB increments.
