Clear-Com® Dominate Communications
at Helsinki World Games

News Release: September 23, 2005

ClearCom, the world’s market leader in the design and development of cutting edge communication technology, dominated the 2005 world championships in Helsinki with their award-winning intercom technology installed in both the stadium studio and official OB vans.

YLE, the Finnish national broadcaster, had a studio inside the stadium with a 4000 Series II matrix at the heart of the system. The award-winning FreeSpeak® digital wireless intercom and a number of high contrast VFD 4224 display panels were used to ensure production staff were in constant communication throughout the 9 days of live sporting events. The FreeSpeak® beltpacks give users the added advantage of having fully integrated communications whilst on the move, which is of particular importance during a live event.

After the Championships, the 4000 Series II matrix will be installed at TV2 Tampere. TV2 and YLE have been 4000 Series users for a number of years, and this installation, in partnership with Qualitron, confirms YLE’s commitment to ClearCom and gives credit to Qualitron’s close working relationship with YLE.

ClearCom also provided the intercom to the official Outside Broadcaster, Prisma of Sweden with talkback systems in more than 5 OB vans broadcasting official live coverage of the Games.
