Las Vegas, Nevada, June 18, 2008 – Clear-Com® Communication Systems, a brand of The Vitec Group, is bringing intercom solutions to the desktop PC with the introduction of its first software-based intercom system, Clear-Com Concert™, at InfoComm 2008 (Booth C3583). Clear-Com is the leading innovator of voice communications systems for the live performance, broadcast, government and commercial markets. Now shipping, this new multi-user conferencing and intercom product provides organizations of all sizes with a reliable and cost-effective way to easily intercommunicate.
Based on Voice-Over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, Clear-Com Concert’s enhanced audio features deliver crystal-clear sound and non-blocking communications over a standard Local Area Network or Internet between local and remote users. This eliminates the need for picking up a phone or connecting to a conference bridge. An intuitive interface facilitates ad-hoc communications and makes the user the conductor of his or her own audio conference with easy drag-and-drop functionality and simple point-and-click controls. The ‘Presence Awareness’ feature monitors participants’ availability, allowing users to communicate more efficiently in highly demanding and collaborative settings.
“Clear-Com Concert is one of the most flexible and innovative intercom products on the market,” explains Jake Dodson, Clear-Com Vice President of Product Management. “It makes communication seamless and accessible to all users without the need for a large hardware investment. For example, using their desktop or laptop computers, stage managers working from home or costume designers working in a remote studio can take part in a communication session via a user-friendly interface via a microphone or headset. These conferences can be initiated within minutes and are of such high clarity that it actually sounds as if they’re in the same room with other participants.”
The system, scalable to many hundreds of users, is designed with proprietary protocols and error recovery algorithms for mission-critical applications. The system uses AES 128-bit encryption to provide “online banking” grade security for protecting privacy of transmissions. With texting and online chat capabilities that offer easy escalation to a voice session, users have increased control and flexibility. Supporting a variety of CODECs including wideband and ultra wideband, Clear-Com Concert provides realistic audio that captures more components of the human voice for speech quality enhancement than those previously available on the market.
