After more than 40 years of service and nearly two decades as CEO, Mitzi Dominguez is retiring from Clear-Com. Her departure marks the end of a transformative era for the company, and the beginning of a new chapter, both for Mitzi and for Clear-Com’s continued journey.
Throughout her career, Mitzi has been a steady and visionary force at Clear-Com, guiding the company through dynamic shifts in the communications landscape and redefining what intercom technology can achieve. As we celebrate her retirement, we also reflect on the profound legacy she leaves behind, a legacy built on trust, integrity, and a relentless commitment to people-first leadership.
From Accounting to the C-Suite
Mitzi began her journey at HME, Clear-Com’s parent company, working as a part-time clerk in the accounting department. From her earliest days, her sharp analytical mind and collaborative nature stood out. She steadily rose through the ranks, ultimately taking on the role of both President of HME and CEO of Clear-Com. It was a pivotal time for the company, as Clear-Com was expanding internationally and investing in IP technologies that would revolutionize the future of intercom.
“I never set out to be a CEO,” Mitzi said during a recent interview. “But I’ve always believed in this company. I believed in the people, the products, and the purpose. That belief is what carried me forward.”
Mitzi was also instrumental in the strategic acquisition of Trilogy Communications, a move that broadened Clear-Com’s technology portfolio and reinforced its leadership in mission-critical communications solutions.
Leading with Vision, Heart, and Operational Excellence
As CEO, Mitzi’s tenure was defined not only by business success but by a unique ability to blend technical insight, operational rigor, and emotional intelligence. She championed global expansion while preserving the culture of agility and openness that made Clear-Com so unique. Her leadership style emphasized thoughtful listening, collaboration, and decisive action with integrity.
Under her leadership, Clear-Com developed and launched key products that have become industry standards, such as the FreeSpeak® family of wireless intercom systems and the Arcadia® Central Station.
She also drove internal transformations that set Clear-Com apart. Mitzi was a key influence behind the incorporation of Lean principles into HME and Clear-Com operations, a discipline that helped streamline processes, and maintain a customer-centric focus. This internal cultural shift has continued to differentiate Clear-Com in the marketplace today.
Another significant achievement under Mitzi’s guidance was the integration of Clear-Com’s product manufacturing into HME’s Carlsbad, California factory. She led the design and implementation of the expanded facility, helping ensure that Clear-Com's premier products could proudly carry a "Made in the USA" distinction, a point of pride for the company and a mark of quality for its customers.
A Global Team and a Global Impact
Mitzi’s focus on team-building extended far beyond the walls of Clear-Com’s Alameda, California headquarters and the Carlsbad, California HME factory. She fostered a deeply collaborative relationship with regional teams across EMEA, APAC, LATAM, and North America, ensuring that Clear-Com’s growth was not just measured in numbers, but in relationships.
“Mitzi always treated the global team as an extension of the core team,” said Richard Palmer, EMEA Director of Sales. “She made people feel seen and heard, no matter where they sat.”
She also strengthened Clear-Com’s connections with long-standing partners, integrators, and end users across industries — from broadcast networks and theaters to houses of worship, military operations, commercial space exploration ventures like Intuitive Machines, and large-scale live events.
As current Clear-Com President Bob Boster said, “Our customers trust Clear-Com not only because our solutions work, but because our people stand behind them. That’s a reflection of Mitzi’s leadership.”
Reflections and Looking Ahead
As she steps into retirement, Mitzi is reflective, but optimistic. She says she’s looking forward to spending more time with her family, traveling, and finally tackling a few long-postponed personal projects. But she’s quick to note that Clear-Com will always hold a special place in her heart.
“It’s been an honor to lead this company,” she said. “What we’ve accomplished together is more than I ever imagined when I started. I have every confidence in the team’s ability to carry the mission forward, and to do so in new and exciting ways.”
Her departure marks a leadership transition that comes with strong continuity. Clear-Com remains in excellent hands with a deeply experienced executive team and a renewed commitment to operational excellence, and global collaboration.
