Clear-Com New FreeSpeak II IP Transceiver Previews at NAB2018

4/8/2018

AES67-compatible wireless transceiver doubles beltpack-support capacity and extends the reach of FreeSpeak II wireless beltpack users

Clear-Com® will showcase its all-new FreeSpeak II IP Transceiver (IPT) as a Technology Demonstration at NAB2018. The IP Transceiver is one of two product debuts based on Clear-Com’s new IP Platform solution, featuring AES67 compatibility, low-latency signal distribution, high performance audio routing with high audio bandwidth. As a result, FreeSpeak II wireless beltpacks can now be addressed across a user’s LAN.  Additional enhancements support a higher density of users per transceiver as well. Existing FreeSpeak II beltpacks may be upgraded to work with the IPT through a simple firmware update.

All Transceivers are connected to an AES67 IP-router and to the Eclipse HX system fitted with Clear-Com’s E-IPA high density audio-and-intercom-over IP system card. Each E-IPA card—also native AES67 based-- provides up to 64 ports of IP connections which effectively supports 64 IPTs. The IPT Transceiver can be powered from a PoE switch or local power source. Direct fiber connection is also available on each IPT.

Distributed 1.9GHz FreeSpeak II IP Transceivers form an entire wireless communication network that is only limited by the user’s LAN. Within the LAN, one or more zones of wireless connections can be created with strategically-placed IPTs. FreeSpeak II wireless beltpacks are seamlessly handed off from IPT to IPT, never losing connection on the intercom as long as the user stays within the zone. Each Transceiver supports up to 10 FreeSpeak II wireless beltpacks, twice as many beltpacks as the FreeSpeak II E1 transceiver.

“With the addition of the new IP Transceivers, FreeSpeak II users now has even more options with their wireless solution than any other system on the market,” said Simon Browne, Vice President of Clear-Com. “Today, FreeSpeak II operates on 1.9Ghz and 2.4GHz bands over fiber connections. By allowing the IP Transceivers to connect over AES IP networks, we have enhanced FreeSpeak II’s flexibility, providing an additional option for addressing customer’s ever-shifting intercom requirements.”

Existing FreeSpeak II beltpacks can easily be made compatible with the IPT through a simple firmware upgrade, eliminating the need for costly replacements.

The FSII IP Transceiver will be available to view on Clear-Com’s Booth C6908 at NAB 2018, together with a wide range of Clear-Com’s trusted communication solutions.
