Partyline Intercom Users Cross the IP Domain with Clear-Com's LQ Series

9/6/2017

Clear-Com® announces the firmware update to all LQ Series Interfaces, which unlocks IP capabilities for analog and digital partyline users. As a brand-agnostic interface platform, LQ uses IP as the means for industry-standard brands of 2-wire and 4-wire intercom systems to network together over IP. Plus, LQ is now capable of connecting with VoIP telephones and with Clear-Com Agent-IC mobile app users over WiFi or cellular networks.

Connection to Agent-IC
Due to showcase at IBC 2017, the newly-improved LQ Series leverages the internet’s global reach to connect intercom and audio to remote users who are running Clear-Com’s Agent-IC mobile client app on their iOS or Android smart telephones and tablets. Any core production user on the main intercom system can instantly connect with contributors on Clear-Com’s Agent-IC mobile app for monitoring the intercom, receiving IFB feeds, or working remotely. The Agent-IC app is available for free download at the iTunes Store and Google Play and licensed on the LQ devices.

Each LQ Series IP interface can support up to eight individual Agent-IC clients; meaning that up to eight users can call into the intercom system through 3G/4G or Wi-Fi internet links. up to 48 channels of LQ Series IP interfaces can be connected to a particular Clear-Com partyline intercom system at any given time.

Extension to VoIP Telephony
The same LQ Series IP interfaces can also support connections to VoIP telephony via SIP (Session Initiation Protocol). This allows intercom users to cost-effectively call IP phone users with a single push of a button, and vice versa.

Stephen Sandford, Product Manager, Clear-Com, said, “The combination of Clear-Com’s partyline intercoms, LQ Series IP interfaces and Agent-IC apps, makes it possible for any production to extend full-duplex communications to its contributors across the world quickly and affordably. At a time when budgets are tight and remote productions are increasing in popularity, the LQ Series of IP interfaces is a welcome intercom solution for broadcasters everywhere.”
