After more than 20 years in broadcast and live production, I've learned that successful productions depend on people being able to communicate clearly, reliably and instantly. The technology behind those conversations matters, but so does understanding how people work and what they need from their equipment.

That perspective guides how we approach product development at Clear-Com, and it's what makes introducing our new Mentrix Flex Panel at NAB Show New York particularly exciting.

Debuting at Booth 739, Mentrix Flex Panel is designed to give operators greater flexibility in how they interact with their communications systems. In broadcast control rooms and outside broadcast trucks, where space is often limited and quick access to essential functions is critical, the design of an operator's interface can have a meaningful impact on everyday workflows.

Mentrix Flex combines physical lever keys, rotary controls and a touchscreen in one compact panel. Its 16 keysets and configurable controls allow operators to tailor the interface to their needs, bringing the speed and familiarity of tactile controls together with the flexibility of a digital display.

Practical installation considerations were also central to its design. Power over Ethernet (PoE) simplifies power requirements, while standard VESA compatibility supports a range of mounting configurations. Integrated USB connectivity, a dynamic display and support for widgets and visual tools provide additional flexibility. Support for Audio over IP (AoIP) also makes the panel a relevant option for facilities developing networked production environments.

Mentrix Flex expands our V-Series portfolio with another approach to operator control, giving customers more options as their facilities, workflows and production requirements evolve.

Designing Technology Around the People Who Use It

My experience spans broadcast networks, live sports and production facilities, where I've seen firsthand how different each production environment can be. A broadcast control room has different demands from a stadium, theatre or corporate event space. Yet all share a need for dependable communications that allow teams to coordinate and respond when circumstances change.

That variety is why understanding the customer is essential. At Clear-Com, our work goes beyond providing equipment. We collaborate with production professionals to understand their operating environments, identify their communications requirements and recommend solutions that fit the way they work.

Our portfolio spans wired, wireless, digital matrix and IP communications systems, giving customers options for productions of different sizes and levels of complexity. Just as importantly, our experience working alongside these teams informs how we develop products and support them over time.

Why NAB Show New York Matters

NAB Show New York provides an important opportunity to connect with the broadcast and production community in one of the industry's major media markets. New York is home to major broadcast organizations, production professionals, corporate AV teams and technology users who are continually evaluating how to improve their operations.

Bringing the show to New York gives these professionals a convenient opportunity to see new technology firsthand, exchange ideas with industry peers and meet directly with manufacturers without having to travel to Las Vegas. For Clear-Com, it's a chance to engage with customers in the region, hear about the challenges they're facing and demonstrate how our solutions can support their work.

Those conversations are valuable because product demonstrations are only one part of the experience. Understanding how a system will be used in a real production environment, discussing specific requirements and exploring possible solutions help customers make informed decisions about their communications infrastructure.
