FreeSpeak Architecture
• The architecture employs a client-server model where the System Core/Base functions as the central audio engine and configuration server of the system. Beltpacks act as clients, offloading all mixing and routing logic to the Core/Base while providing audio input and output to the system.
• The Beltpack serves as the primary user interface, sending routing and volume commands to the System Core/Base for execution. The Core/Base processes these requests centrally and immediately updates the Beltpack’s local display and tallies to reflect the active system state.
• The system uses either the 1.9GHz DECT protocol or 2.4GHz FHSS, employing Time Division Multiplexing, for wireless transmission.
• Devices connect via a pairing mechanism where the Beltpack identifies and joins the system by detecting transceiver beacons that match its stored System ID.
• Roaming is entirely beltpack-driven, with the beltpack autonomously monitoring RF conditions to trigger connection changes. It performs a seamless “make-before-break” handoff, crossfading audio between transceivers before releasing the old link to ensure continuity.
• E1 Transceivers bridge the wireless transmission to the wired by converting wireless audio into E1 multiplexed point-to-point connections for connection to System Core/Base along with synchronization and power.
